Strong and Strange: Miuccia Prada's New Working Woman

At her strong show this evening, presented in an intimate theatrical setting, Miuccia Prada proposed a new uniform for working women: thick wool suits worn with rubber looking boots and briefcases. Prada is at her best when she gets really eccentric and starts exploring fashion extremes. One of her favorite fashion contradictions is the juxtaposition of the rustic and the sophisticated and this time she waded in deep, casting about for a kooky silhouette that included sexy wool briefs paired with swashbuckling boots or belted stiff skirts with fur cardigans. Take away all the quirky accessories (funny that the rubber-looking leather waders appear just when Hunter boots are making a big comeback) and many of the clothes are actually quite commercial and wearable.
