What is it with these designers who love to troll the 1980s for inspiration? Lots of big shoulders today at Gianfranco Ferre, left, where designers Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi await the fate of their jobs while IT Holding SpA, the parent company of Ferre, sorts out their finances after filing for the Italian version of Chapter 11. The uncertain future did not stop these two new-ish talents from piling on the beading, velvet, fur, belts, pleats, ruffles and studding. They are great craftsmen, but this collection was overworked.
