Armani store in NYC
Italian designer Giorgio Armani announced today that he will donate $1 million to The Fund for Public Schools in honor of the opening of his new 43,000 square foot Fifth Avenue store on the corner of 56th street. The grant will develop a multi-year program called the Armani Arts Insitute which will focus on nurturing arts programs in New York's public schools. The designer felt this was the right time to give back to New York City where he opened his first American store in 1985. "We are giving young kids a chance to dream," the designer said. The grant was announced at the store opening in the presence of Mayor Bloomberg and Caroline Kennedy, Vice-Chair of the Fund for Public Schools. Wow, that is a very nice gift.
