Here's The Deal On "Colormath"

Isaac was right. It's all about color. Color's the early, big, frontrunner trend for fashion week. Bam! Right out of the gate this morning, Carolina Herrera opened with a bright red pantsuit on Agyness. (But Joel is right, the marigold dress was the best one). And then Peter Som presented a pretty, very soft and sexy show of easy, breezy dresses in seersucker and what they are calling “whisper” chiffon. Thakoon started off somber with black and grey radzimir dresses and then popped into pink organza and sheer emerald green. The show had a softness and a billowy kind of ease that felt right. And I loved his prints. The roses with legs, a collaboration with the artist Laurie Simmons, had a surreal edge as did the eyelash print (my favorite). I like the subtle YSL homage of these feminine, cheeky prints.

Perhaps the best use of color—certainly the most imaginative—was Mizrahi's. He had these weird lights that made the models appear in black and white, then, when they turned the corner on the runway and walked under normal lights the gorgeous, iridescent colors of the clothing emerged. It was so theatrical and magical. I loved also the gossamer transparency of the clothes. The fabrics really did look like insect's wings which was, apparently, the inspiration.
