Carolina Herrera show review
It turns out I like fashion shows. There's about an hour of talking and hanging out and meeting people and then maybe 20 minutes of performance - a far better ratio than any form of entertainment other than Unitarian weddings. Also, pretty women hand you bottled water on silver trays.
My biggest complaint is how serious everyone is - the models, the audience, everybody. Nobody smiles or expresses any emotion. Either this was the most disastrous collection ever, or these people take themselves dangerously seriously. I don't think people looked as intense at cabinet meetings about the Cuban missile crisis. I was at the Democrat and Republican conventions, the last two weeks and I wasn't at one event that people took this seriously.
The models looked like they were on the Bataan Death March. Also, they walk in such a way that it looks like they are going to fall backwards. And they had the same exact hair. I can't tell which women are prettier if they have the same hair.
I thought the collection was boring. Some nice gowns - especially this "marigold double chiffon asymetrical own with ruffle detail," whatever that means. It was the yellow one.
But there were a lot of pant suits. No one likes pantsuits. Not even Hillary Clinton. She just had to wear them because she was the first woman to run for president and she wanted people to take her seriously. The second woman to run for president isn't going to wear pantsuits.
Basically, it was clothes that if someone wore you wouldn't say, "nice outfit." You wouldn't look at them like they were dressed badly, you just wouldn't notice much. They were clothes for people who want to fit in. And be really serious about it.
